As business growth experts, Richard (We are Canoe) and Joe (DS Accountancy Limited) attended the Quickbooks Connect event held at Billingsgate in London. The weather was amazing for February, which allowed them to make use of the outside area for meetings.
Despite DS Accountancy being a largely Xero-based business, Richard and Joe felt it was important to understand Quickbooks’ own ecosystem in more detail, taking the opportunity to catch up with existing fintech and digital partners, as well as make connections with new ones.
The venue was interesting, significantly smaller than the arena used for Xerocon in November 2018, but the venue felt more intimate and offered better networking opportunities.
During the morning, Joe and Richard discussed cloud-based inventory management with John Horton from Unleashed and Andrew Jordan from Fathom, talking in depth about how to achieve better clarity and insight for clients.
The afternoon involved two scheduled meetings with Simon Smallwood from Fluidly and Yohan Trougouboff from Capitalise. These conversations focused on cash flow for small businesses with Simon offering insight into how Fluidly’s intelligent credit control and cashflow monitoring can assist clients with managing overdue debtors. Richard and Joe’s commitment to helping clients reduce overdue debt and improve business cashflow means they are keen to build their relationship with Fluidly.
Capitalise offers a business finance brokering service online via cloud-based portals which also form an essential part of DS Accountancy’s board meeting/advisory support service offered to clients. Identifying areas where additional finance or support from a lender may be required is an essential part of the company’s advice.
A very productive day ended on a highly positive note with Joe winning an Amazon Echo device from Unleashed, which was given to the team in the Cheltenham office to offer them some much-needed entertainment!
